Thomas Armando Conto, 83, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on July 12, 2019.

Tom was born on April 26, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Josephine Daus and Armando Conto.

He attended the University of Illinois on a football scholarship, and later transferred to the University of Utah where he earned his degree in Geophysics.

He married Susan Sharp in 1960 and they began their grand adventure with two years in the US Army. Following that, he started his career as an Exploration Geophysicist in the copper industry working in Arizona, British Columbia, Alaska and the NW Territories.

He concluded his career in Globe. Additionally, he served the community as a Globe City Councilman and Vice Mayor, YMCA Indian Guides leader, Boy Scout leader, and also participated in Rotary Club, numerous Church projects and volunteer work.

Tom loved camping with his family, hunting, fishing, golf, playing bridge with his friends, spending summers in Nutrioso and searching for the best Chicago Dogs on the planet.

Tom was preceded in death by his sister Mary Jo Hooker. He will be forever remembered by his wife of 59 years, Sue, his four sons, David (Vicki) of Tucson, Michael (Sue) of Oro Valley, Daniel (Bonnie) of Tempe and Kevin (Heidi) of Flagstaff. He also has eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Santa Catalina Catholic Church, 14380 N. Oracle in Tucson at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019.
