GLOBE — This year’s president of the Tuesday Book Club, Claudia Armer, presented a check for $130 from the Club to Sherry Rice, president of the Friends of the Globe Public Library, and  Adrea Ricke, librarian and director of the library.

Tuesday  Book Club was established in 1945. A recent look through the scrapbooks of the Club, archived at the Gila County Historical Museum, revealed from one of the earliest years that “the purpose of Tuesday Book Club is “to provide a common assembly for a group of friends who share a love of books and cultural interest.” Armer confirm that purpose is relevant today.

Globe community members are encouraged to join the Friends of the Library to make a positive difference in our library. The Friends work hard to raise money and volunteer hours to supplement and enhance Globe Public Library. Call the library for meeting information at 928–425–6111.
