The Walk For Hope event was created and inspired by the death of Rocha’s son, 28-year-old Michael Tarango, who was a Globe resident. Tarango passed away March 4, 2015. This year, the event also honored the victims of the Nov. 11, 2018 mass shooting in Globe, as two of were Rocha’s relatives and one was a close friend of her family. The fourth annual event included a balloon release of red (representing drug awareness) black (symbolizing death) and white, symbolizing hope, Rocha said. Lynn’s School of Dance, in Globe, also performed.
