Ysabel “Cheli” Don Lucas Garcia, 92, passed away on Jan. 1, 2022 at Honor Health Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona. Cheli was born in Hayden, Arizona on July 1, 1929 to Rufugio and Maria del Rufugio Don Lucas. She is survived by her daughters Sylvia, Dorothy and Carol (Steve); two sons Ramon, Jr. (Eva) and Eloy (Leticia); grandchildren Patrick, Rosalia, Gabriel, Alejandro, Shadow, Steven, Stephanie, Melanie and Elianna; great-grandchildren Aliyah, Analyse, Esteban and Casey; and brother Hector (Toribia). She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ramon Juan (Mundo) Garcia, Sr.; grandson Ramon J. Garcia, Jr. III; parents Rufugio and Maria Don Lucas; sisters Antonia and Hortencia; and brother Pedro.

Cheli received all her formal education in the Hayden School system, graduating from Hayden High School in 1947. Cheli was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also considered a grandmother to many nieces and nephews who frequented her home.

Cheli was involved with the church choir and spent a lot of her time singing, whether it was at church or singing at home. Her other passion was hitting the bingo halls in surrounding communities. She was an avid sports fan, attending many sporting events that her children participated in. She was also a huge Arizona Diamondbacks fan.

Although Cheli didn’t work formally, she was considered the general manager to businesses that her husband established during their lifetime together.

After reaching her golden years, Cheli enjoyed watching and taking care of her grandchildren.

Cheli was known for always being willing to lend a helping hand in the community, and took many kids under her guidance. She will be missed by all.
