Betty Jo Vasquez, age 81 of Globe, Ariz. passed away peacefully on June 5, 2020 in Globe, Ariz. She was born on May 22, 1939 in Chickasha, Okla. to her loving parents T.A. and Faye Nelson.

Betty Jo moved to Arizona with her family in 1946 where she attended and graduated from Globe High School. It was in high school that she met the love of her life Eddy Vasquez. They were married on July 26, 1958. She worked at the Globe Credit Bureau until she had her daughter Liz. After a few years of being a stay at home Mom she went to work at the Miami High School where she worked her way up to Business Manager in the District Office and retired from there. She was a devoted parishioner of the Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Miami. Betty also enjoyed their property in Lakeside where they frequently visited and had many guests stay with them or stop by to visit. She always had great food along with fresh tortillas that we all enjoyed. Betty loved to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Phoenix Suns. She loved to be around people and have fun. She loved being with her daughter, going shopping in Mesa together and out to eat. In her later years after her husband Eddy passed away she spent most of her time with her daughter Liz and son in law Bebe.  She loved going places with them and being at the ranch. We even got her on a horse a couple of times, but that was when she was younger. She enjoyed going on little rides in the side by side and seeing the animals. She was supportive, kind and loving. She was a loving and caring wife, the best Mom and Mother-In-Law, a great Aunt and a wonderful friend to many. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents T.A. Nelson and Faye Gillette, she was also preceded by her husband Eddy Vasquez, her brother Tom Nelson, and her sister Barbara Crawford. Betty is survived by her daughter Liz (Bebe) Rivera, her brothers Curtis (Helen) Nelson, Danny Nelson, Jim Gillette, her sister Vickie Avelar, and her sister in law Beverly Nelson along with many nieces and nephews.
