Gilbert P. Martinez

Gilbert P. Martinez, 83, of Claypool, Ariz., born in Ajo, Ariz., succumbed to cancer surrounded by his family on April 9, 2019.

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Deborah, of 25 years; daughters Marisa Martinez Biscorner and Amanda Gomez; sons Michael Martinez, Paul Martinez and Gabriel Gomez; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brothers Arnold and Francis Martinez, Patsy and Rudy Martinez (deceased), Roland Martinez (deceased), sisters Gerry and Ruben Marentes, Genie Thomas, Edith Whitfield and many nieces and nephews. 

Gilbert was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to everyone.

Gilbert loved sports, especially baseball and basketball, where his favorite team was the Diamondbacks and Phoenix Suns. 

He worked as an acid specialist for 30 years. 

He spent his free time watching various sports games live and on TV and spent most of his days fixing up his home and working on projects around the house. 

He also enjoyed taking drives with his wife, Debbie, around town or a quick drive to a small town around Arizona, movies, reading during the off-season. 

Gilbert was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects, providing support or whatever else people needed him for.

A special thank you to the nurses at Chandler Regional Hospital in Chandler for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Bulman Miles Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.

Memorial services will be on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at 11 a.m., at Bulman Miles Funeral Home at 237 S. Sutherland St., Globe, Ariz.
