Cobre Valley Independence Day Parade is here!!

Posted

Get ready for the Patriotic Parade! Join us as we celebrate America’s 246th birthday! We remain the longest continuing constitutional republic in the world. To mark the occasion, we will have Pomp and Parade Thursday, July 4, on Sullivan St. in Miami. Bring your lawn chairs and pull up a pop-up in Veterans Park. Fun begins at 8 a.m. Or join this year’s parade. Enter your family vehicle or ATV, that old tractor sitting in your barn. Enter your club or civic organization and advertise your cause. Rolling in the parade is a great way to showcase your local business. Go the extra mile this year and enter the float contest. Three cash prizes will be given out this year, sponsored by Rural Air and other generous local sponsors. First prize for best decorated float will be $300. Two runners up will each be awarded $200. Put that patriotic imagination to work and bring home some bacon!

This year’s parade will feature a very special and honorable guest. Local boy done well Retired US Army Colonel Larry Perino will be joining us! Come help give him a hero’s welcome. Col. Perino survived the incredible Battle of Mogadishu, made famous by the Hollywood movie “Black Hawk Down.” Our local hero received the Silver Star for his gallant efforts as a young Army Ranger.

Opening Ceremonies will be full of great performances that you will not want to miss. We will cheer as the American Legion Riders escort our nation’s flag. Rose’s preschoolers will melt your heart as they recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Sons of the American Legion will remember the names of all local veterans who have answered life’s final rollcall through the previous year. Many other exciting and sacred events await at the Cobre Valley Independence Day Parade 2024. Parade entry forms can be picked up at Denny’s, La Casita downtown, the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce, or Miami Town Hall. Pick yours up today before it’s too late!
