Merle Palmer

Merle Eugene Palmer was born in Rushville, IL in 1936 and died in his much-loved Arizona home on July 13, 2024.   Born to Gerald and Pauline Palmer, preceding him in death, Merle is survived by his wife Rayna Palmer, daughter Tanya Parrish of Gold Canyon, AZ, Ted of IL, Christopher of Mesa and brother Arthur of Tucson.  Merle was also the proud and loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren, his own and extended family. Jonathan, Josh, Julia and Jordan Parrish of TN, and Jacob Parrish of IL.  His Arizona grandkids include Skyer, Emily, Katie, Alyssa and Delia Barela.  Grandson Dylan Palmer preceded him in death.  His puppy dogs Molly and Matty were his daily companions whom he also loved dearly.

A funeral director by profession, he owned funeral homes in Carthage, IL and Globe, AZ.  He was an avid golfer and loved playing in four-person scrambles.

Merle was most proud of his years as a Boy Scout, having received the Order of the Arrow as a young man and his Eagle Scout in 1953.   In 2021 Merle received his fifty-five (55) year pin as a Mason, having reached the 31st degree.

Merle was cared for by Hospice of the Valley. His arrangements were made by Superstition Cremation and Funeral Services.
